Thanks. So glad we were able to get the rear speakers working. Not real sure about dash set up on the '97 explorer, but on the '94 ranger (should be close) it wasn't hard to place an after market (one from wal mart, 1998 Ford Ranger Radio Not Working It shows the plug and the wires attached to each pin in the plug.
Shut the car off and came back out 5 minutes later. I did a reboot and master reset and it fixed it.
