I do have Logitec's Special software "Unifying" for the mouse installed on El Capitan but it did not make a difference for this problem. Try these tips: Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Dictation & Speech, then click Text to Speech. If the machines actually worked properly then the price MIGHT be justified. Basically, the keyboard sometimes worked when plugged in to my MacBook Pro Retina, but sometimes just totally failed to respond, and the mouse plugged into its extra USB port didn't work Thanks for saving me time, money and possible frustration.
